Shaw Finds His Place In The WAC

CSI's Joey Shaw is headed to play in the WAC. One of the league's strongest recruiting classes just got a little deeper. The former Indiana wing is on board.

The College of Southern Idaho won a ton of games this season and wing Joey Shaw was a big part of the team's success. He averaged 18.9 points and scored over 500 points on the season.

This week, Shaw made a commitment to join an outstanding Nevada Wolfpack program headed by Mark Fox.

For Shaw, the decision wasn't that tough. "I knew I was going to Nevada all along," Shaw said. "I had a good relationship with them in high school so I kind of knew."

The 6-foot-6 Shaw came out of Glendale, Ariz., and originally attended Indiana before transferring to CSI. Known as a shooter, he's pretty sure his game is rounding out and will be ready for Reno.

"My strength is probably getting to the rack and shooting the 3 and a little rebounding."

Mark McLaughlin, Luke Babbitt and London Giles signed with the Pack in the fall. Adding Shaw to the mix late is a big bonus for the WAC power.

"There's an opportunity to win the conference, get some good recruits in and go to the tournament. I can showcase my game and help the team out."
