Chase Tapley, 6-1 JR SG/PG Sacramento (Calif.) High, is one of the more talented guard prospects in the west for 2009. He has good ball skills and the ability to score in a variety of ways.

I spoke with Tapley recently and asked about the programs expressing interest in him.

"Baylor, Kentucky, UCLA, San Diego State, Wyoming, Cal and St. Mary's," said Tapley.

Tapley said four programs have extended scholarship offers so far.

"Baylor, San Diego State, Wyoming and St. Mary's have offered," said Tapley.

When asked if he has a feel for which programs have been recruiting him the hardest, Tapley replied, "Baylor and San Diego State."

Tapley said he may be taking an unofficial visit soon.

"Cal called today and they want to set up a time for me to come down there," said Tapley.

I asked Tapley about the factors he considers important to his decision.

"The coaching staff, the environment and the school," said Tapley. "Location doesn't really matter."

Tapley said he has a 3.1 GPA.
