2009 Introduction: Justin Cobbs

Justin Cobbs, a scoring lead guard from Southern California, tells us that he currently has four offers...

Justin Cobbs, 6-0 JR PG/SG Torrance (Calif.) Bishop Montgomery, is a scoring lead guard with a nice stroke and range to the stripe.

When I spoke with Cobbs recently, he said he's hearing from a number of programs.

"UCLA, USC, Washington State, Washington, Tennessee, Kansas State, West Virginia, San Diego and Santa Clara," said Cobbs.

Cobbs said four schools have offered at this time.

"Washington State, USC, San Diego and Santa Clara have offered," said Cobbs.

Cobbs has taken a couple unofficial visits so far.

"I went to Washington and it was really cool," said Cobbs. "But I went for a football game when they played Cal and it's pretty cold up there. "I also went to San Diego. They have a nice campus there and the coaches are real cool. But I'm leaving my options open right now and waiting to see who recruits me after the summer."

Cobbs talked a little about the factors he's looking at in choosing a school.

"First, the education. Second, the style of play and where I can fit in – someplace where I have a bond with the coaches," said Cobbs. "Location doesn't really matter – basketball is basketball wherever I am."

Cobbs said he's not really close to a decision.

"It'll probably be after the summer," said Cobbs. "I'll see what schools show the most interest."

Cobbs said he currently has a 3.3 GPA.
