No April Fools, Hopson's Done

Bruce Pearl replaced his program's all-time 3-point champion with a huge wing talent. Scotty Hopson, a Top 10 player, is officially off the board.

Scotty Hopson, a University Heights product, and future Top 10 member of the Class of 2008, is off the board.

The 6-foot-7 Hopson, while on his official visit to Tennessee, committed to the Volunteers. He considered Mississippi State, Tennessee, Kentucky, Louisvile, Texas and a host of programs.

"I'm on the visit," Hopson said. "My momma gave me her consent (to commit). I'm in a great position and I'm going to make the best of it."

The McDonald's All-American was part of a significant recruiting saga when he backed off an early commitment to the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Tennessee's class now included Hopson and three other players. Top 100 forward Renaldo Woolridge, late blooming guard Daniel West and center Phillip Jurick comprise this year's class.

The big addition is obviously Hopson. A multi-faceted wing player, Hopson is adept off the bounce and behind the line. He'll be counted on for immediate points and will be the highest-rated recruit in the SEC next season.
