Jackson Is C-USA Bound

Tamir Jackson knew where he wanted to go, so Monday evening the 6-foot-1, 180-pound guard announced his collegiate decision.

Relationships always play a major role in recruiting and when Tamir Jackson committed to UAB on Monday, it was his relationship with the coaches and a future player that sealed the deal.

"I developed a great relationship with the coach staff – Coach Davis and Coach Marsh," Jackson said. "I also built a relationship with DeMarcus Cousins and that was the main the factor."

The Newark (N.J.) St. Benedict standout picked the Blazers over interest from Arizona, Virginia Tech, South Carolina, St. John's, Harvard, Miami and Rhode Island. After his visit in October, UAB moved to the top of the list.

"I took a visit during midnight madness and I just liked it the first time I went down there," he said. "I knew that was the school I wanted to go to, but I wanted to wait and see what other schools came and offered me."

Jackson will suit up for the Playaz this spring and summer. They'll participate in the Pitt Jam Fest and Providence Jam Fest during the open period.

Jackson is the second junior to commit to Davis. He joins Cousins, who committed to UAB in late February.
