Witherspoon Sets Announcement Date

Wesley Witherspoon held off until the spring to make his college decision. He still has one more visit to take before he announces his college choice in early May.

Wesley Witherspoon is nearing the end of his recruitment and the 6-foot-7, 185-pound has set a date for his press conference.

"I have one more visit left and after that last visit I'll be able to make my decision," Witherspoon said. "I'm going to make my decision at a press conference on May 1st."

The Lilburn (Ga.) Berkmar product, who averaged 21 points and 9.5 rebounds a game this past season, recently narrowed his list.

"Everything is pretty much the same ole same ole," Witherspoon said. "I've finally narrowed it down to five schools -- Memphis, Texas, Virginia, Florida and Colorado. It's pretty much an even race between those schools."

In the near future Witherspoon plans to take his last available official visit to Memphis. He hasn't set an exact date for the visit. Of the other schools on his list, Florida is the only one he hasn't visited.

Witherspoon is ranked 12th at the small forward position and is 56th overall on Scout.com.
