Williams Still Undecided

Derrick Williams, a 6-2 shooting guard from Los Angeles, is hearing from a number of schools, but he's not going to pull the trigger in the fall...

Derrick Williams, 6-2 SR SG Los Angeles (Calif.) Price, told us last night that he will sign in the spring. "I'm still undecided," said Williams. "So I'm going to wait until spring."

Williams told us that some of the schools expressing interest include Portland, Southern Utah, Cal Poly, Northridge, Long Beach St. and Boise St.

We asked for his feelings on staying close to home and Williams said, "I'm easily adaptable -- I have no problem going away. My family is originally from Michigan and I like the cold."

Williams told us that schools with strong business and communications programs would have an edge in his recruitment. "That's what I want to major in," said Williams. "I'm also looking at the teacher-student ratio."

Williams also said that the opportunity to play, as opposed to going to the highest possible level, would be an issue for him. "If I'm playing, I'm fine," Williams said. "It doesn't have to be a high major school."

Qualifying should not be an issue for Williams, as he told us that he has a 3.2 GPA and scored 940 on the SAT. He is awaiting results from a second attempt at the test.
