‘Horns Go In Another Direction
There's no doubt that Cartier Martin is having a tough time reaching his collegiate decision. On Thursday, that indecision cost him a chance to attend school at Texas. Our sources indicated that Rick Barnes and the Texas staff had grown weary of waiting for Martin and called his high school coach to pull out of the race.
That leaves Kansas State, Oklahoma State and Kentucky. UK was the final visit but right now, heading into the weekend, they are second at best on his list and likely third, again according to our sources.
Kansas State looks like the team to beat. They have a strong natural connection with Martin. Chris Salinas, a former Houston Select assistant, works at Kansas State. Salinas had a strong tie with Martin in AAU ball and by our count, still does.
Texas on the other hand, could still wind up with a running mate for forward Anthony Tucker in this class. Whether they opt to use the grant, the Longhorns should have room for a spring signee and by waiting that opens their pool of possible recruits to high school, juco and transfer students.
