Two-Sport Star Will Wait

Tyler Tiedeman has received interest from West Coast schools, but he's not yet ready to make a decision...

Tyler Tiedeman, 6-5 SR SG Santa Rosa (Calif.) Montgomery, is a nice prospect as a baseball pitcher, but he's told us that he wants to play basketball in college.

A very good shooter, with a nice feel for the game, Tiedeman played for the Oakland Soldiers this past summer and was somewhat overshadowed by some very talented teammates. However, we saw Tiedeman playing with his high school team at the Cal team camp and he was a different player with Montgomery.

Tiedeman has received varying levels of interest from Portland St., Loyola Marymount and St. Mary's, but he told us recently that he's not ready to choose a school. "I'm going to wait until spring," Tiedeman said.

Tiedeman has visited St. Mary's and indicated he's very interested in the Gaels program. "St. Mary's is my main school right now," said Tiedeman. "But I want to wait until spring."

Tiedeman should have no qualifying issues, as he's previously told us that he has a 2.8 GPA and scored 990 on the SAT.
