Smith Reconsiders, Will Wait On Decision

Robert Smith, the top-rated point guard from California for 2009, has had a change of heart about his recent commitment and will instead keep his recruitment open...

Robert Smith, 5-11 JR PG Perris (Calif.) High, committed to Santa Clara over the weekend, but decided a couple days later that he'd like to keep his recruitment open.

I spoke with Smith this evening and asked him about his decision to keep his recruitment open.

"I decided I made the decision too early and I'm not ready to give a commitment right now," said Smtih. "I want to keep all my options open until after the summer. I just realized I want to wait and take my visits. I'll have my decision after this summer.

I asked Smith if he will take any unofficial visits prior to the summer or wait until his senior year begins so he can take official visits.

"I'll probably take official visits after the summer," said Smith.

When asked if he has any school in mind right now that he wants to visit, Smith replied, "Probably Cal."

Smith stressed that all of the schools on his list are in the mix.

"I want to take my visits and make sure I make the right choice," said Smith.
