Ferguson Ends His Recruitment Early

Dominique Ferguson is a hot name on the recruiting circuit, but on Tuesday he opted to end his recruitment. He'll take his game to the SEC.

Billy Gillispie and the Kentucky Wildcats just picked up their third commitment in the 2010 class. Dominique Ferguson, of Indianapolis (Ind.) Lawrence North, made the call Tuesday evening.

"I think it's a program that best fits his style of play and they definitely have a family atmosphere," Deon Ferguson, who is Dominique's father, said.

Ferguson, who is a five-star prospect in the 2010 class, had strong interest from a bunch of schools including Purdue, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio State, Wake Forest and Louisville.

The 6-foot-9, 200-pound power forward started receiving interest from the Wildcats during the high school season and he recently took a visit to Lexington (Ky.) with his family.

"Pretty much [they started showing interest] towards the end of the school year and basketball season," Ferguson said. "He was receiving letters and stuff like that but I didn't realize they were that interested in him and then we found out that they were and the relationship built from there."

"He took an unofficial," the elder Ferguson said. "It was fantastic. That was one of the best campuses and facilities that I've seen."

Ferguson, who is ranked No. 8 overall, joins Dakotah Euton and K.C. Miller in Kentucky's 2010 recruiting class.
