Hill Drawing Wide Interest

Solomon Hill hasn't received the same level of hype as some of his classmates, but he's one of the elite wings in the west for 2009...

Solomon Hill, 6-6 JR SF Los Angeles (Calif.) Fairfax, is a versatile prospect who can do a lot of things well. A very good athlete, Hill is a terrific passer with excellent vision. He almost has a point guard type feel for the game, yet he can guard wings of all sizes and he plays an unselfish game. His outside shot needs to get better, but it's not broke and he should eventually be an adequate shooter. He's in the running for the top small forward ranking in the west for 2009.

I spoke with Hill over the weekend and asked him about the schools that have expressed interest to date.

"Kansas State, Texas, USC, Oregon, UNLV, San Diego State, San Francisco, DePaul and Miami," said Hill. "UNLV, San Diego State and San Francisco have offered."

When asked if he has a leader, Hill replied, "Texas is probably my favorite right now."

I asked Hill what he is looking for in a school.

"A chance to come in and play is important," said Hill. "A good school also -- it's really just basketball and school. The location doesn't really matter. But I'm going to be there for four years, so it's a big decision."

Hill said he's not necessarily looking to make an early decision.

"I'll probably decide late. In the summer, I want to look at some schools. I may take unofficials to Texas and San Diego State in June," said Hill. "But I might wait until spring of my senior year to decide."
