Zollo Is Latest Cat Commitment

The Wildcats continued their commitment streak on Monday with a verbal commitment from freshman standout Vinny Zollo.

The Wildcats recent streak of commitments continued on Monday. After picking up Josh Harrellson, Dominique Ferguson and 8th grader Michael Avery last week, they turned their attention to freshman Vinny Zollo.

According to sources close to the situation, the Greenfield (Ohio) McClain standout gave the Kentucky staff the word while on an unofficial visit with his family. His visit to Kentucky on Monday wasn't his first, as he made trips to UK for basketball games throughout the year.

Zollo is the first member of the 2011 class to commit to Kentucky. They already hold commitments from K.C. Miller, Dakotuh Euton and Ferguson in the 2010 class. G.J. Vilarino is their only 2009 commit to date.

Zollo plays for Mark Adams in the Indiana Elite program and he says Zollo has had a productive spring and is likely still growing.

"He's played well and has played hard," Adams told Scout.com. "He can guard several different positions, which is good for us because we have a couple of 7-footers on the team."

"Right now he's a solid 6-8 and he's a strong kid," he continued. "He can handle the ball and shoot from three on in. He's a very good shooter. He wears size 19 shoe. He was at the doctor recently and told him his growth plates were still wide open."

Zollo and Indiana Elite will be back in action this coming weekend in Bloomington (Ind.) at the adidas May Classic.
