adidas May Classic: Day 1 Rundown

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The adidas May Classic got underway Friday night and a number of underclassmen played well.

Maurice Sutton, PF, Indiana Elite LNO – We've seen this 6-foot-11 big man a few times over the past months and this was by far his best showing. Although he still lacks strength, he ran the floor, finished inside and buried a 15-foot jumper. He also got after it on defense and played very well against North Carolina commits David and Travis Wear.

Wear Twins, PF, SCA – It's been a while since we've seen the Wears. David has apparently been out of commission for six weeks with mono, while it appears Travis has spent some time in the weight room. Both had rough games Friday night, but still showed that they're skilled inside. David went for five points, while Travis scored eight in the loss to LNO.

Terone Johnson, PG, Indiana Elite LNO – Although he's not a true point guard, that's where he gets his time on the LNO squad. He's equipped to run the show, but he's also a talented scorer. He's fast, finishes well around the rim and buried a handful of pull-up three-pointers. He went for 18 points in LNO's win over SCA.

Cody Zeller, PF, Indiana Elite One 15's – Cody style is eerily similar to his brother Tyler. The 6-foot-6, possibly 6-foot-7, freshman runs the floor well, scores inside and he's already developed a jump hook. With the game on the line, Zeller stepped up and put in the game-winning basket with just two seconds left.

Vinny Zollo, PF, Indiana Elite/Team Indiana – The recent Kentucky commit stands 6-foot-8 and has a strong, thick frame. Although he's not necessarily quick getting up and down the floor, he does run end to end. Zollo has a solid skill set and showed off a nice jump hook. He also proved he's capable of knocking down mid-range jumpers.

Jeremiah Davis, PG/SG, Indiana Elite/Team Indiana – This 6-foot-2 freshman had a big showing on Friday. Davis used his speed and athleticism to get in the lane and finish around the rim. He also buried a few three-pointers and showed a sweet floater in the lane. It was just our first glance, but he appears to be a high major guard with a nice upside.

The Hoosiers have a few recruits in Bloomington this weeked. Maurice Sutton is playing with Indiana Elite LNO and will visit Indiana during the trip. The Hoosiers also have former Hoya Jeremiah Rivers in town checking out the campus.

Indiana Elite/Team Indiana is absolutely loaded. The guy on the squad with the most upside might be 8th grader, Hanner Perea. He's a legit 6-foot-7 and is a big time athlete.

Terrone Johnson claimed a scholarship offer from Butler. He's also hearing from UK, Indiana, Ohio State, Purdue, Arizona and UCLA. He's already visited Indiana and Purdue.
