Vinson Tightens Up List

Top 100 recruit Terrell Vinson did some late spring, early summer cleaning up of his list. This week, according to a relative, he's trimmed it up to three schools.

Montrose Christian forward Terrell Vinson, ranked No. 73 in the Class of 2009, by, is down to three schools. A recent report citing Vinson's father, indicated the schools are Villanova, Georgetown and Duke. caught up with Vinson at the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions over Memorial Day weekend. Even 10 days ago, it was beginning to sound as if the search was narrowing.

"I know Villanova's been coming hard," Vinson said. "Duke has come hard. I didn't hear from Georgetown lately but they're still around."

Villanova has set a June 8 unofficial visit date with Vinson. As of the T.O.C., Duke hadn't offered and communication with the Blue Devils was running through the assistants. "Coach K hasn't talked to me yet, but he contacted my coach Stu Vetter. I haven't talked to Coach K personally but I talked to Coach Wojciehowski a few times."

At 6-foot-7, Vinson's calling card has been his consistent play. A noted hard worker, colleges see him occupying different roles. "They look at me as a versatile player. They don't look at me as an inside guy or outside guy. They look at me as a swing guy.

"I practice inside and outside, everyday, every time I get to work out."

At the time of the interview, Vinson indicated that the head coach he speaks with the most is Villanova's Jay Wright.
