Playing with Memphis YOMCA, the 6-foot-8 power forward showed off a high major game during the spring circuit. He's a solid athlete that runs the floor and is equipped to finish at the rim.
"It went pretty good," he said of the spring. "People said I did more than they thought I could do. It's been a great experience for me to play on the AAU circuit. So I guess it went great for me. I think I'm getting more exposure."
"I think I've improved a lot [since last year]," Buckner continued. "My coaches had me in the gym working hard and I think I've come up a long way."
Over the past few weeks Buckner's recruitment has picked up. He currently holds scholarship offers from Mississippi, Missouri, UTEP, Bradley, Southeast Missouri and Georgia State. Arizona, Memphis and Kentucky are also recruiting him.
"It picked up a lot," he said about his recruitment. "At first [schools] were just recruiting me, now I have a few offers."
"It's at the beginning right now," Buckner said about his recruitment. "I'm going to wait until late September to make my mind up."
Recently Buckner participated in Mississippi's Elite Camp. While on campus he took the opportunity to tour the facilities and get to know the coaching staff.
"They showed me around the campus," he said. "It was pretty good. They worked me out and had me playing against the older guys on Ole Miss's team."
Buckner, who is ranked No. 92 overall, will head back to Mississippi for their team camp soon, and is also planning on going to Missouri's Elite Camp. He's also going to play in RBK U and will finish up the summer playing with Memphis YOMCA.
