Negedu Headed To The SEC

One of the final remaining members of the 2008 Top 100 is off the board, as Emmanuel Negedu made his collegiate decision on Tuesday.

After opting to get out of his Letter of Intent with Arizona in mid-May, Emmanuel Negedu decided to take visits to Memphis, Indiana, Georgia Tech and Tennessee. On Tuesday, he decided on Bruce Pearl and the Volunteers.

"Mainly Tennessee recruited him prior to his commitment to Arizona, so there was a certain level of familiarity," Brewster Academy coach Jason Smith said. "Their style of play was also attractive."

"Emannuel said on his visit he was able to click and bond with all of the Tennessee players and coaches," he continued. "He said it was like a close knit family, just like his experience with Brewster."

This past season Negedu averaged 18 points and 12 rebounds for Brewster, who went 31-4 on the season. He finished his career ranked No. 71 overall and No. 22 on the power forward list.

Negedu's commitment makes him Tennessee's sixth recruit in the 2008 class. He joins Scotty Hopson, Philip Jurick, Renaldo Woolridge, Daniel West and JUCO standout Bobby Maze.
