Garrett Johnson, 6-5 JR SF Pomona (Calif. Diamond Ranch, is a multi-dimensional prospect with a good feel for the game. Johnson was a bit below the radar previously, but solid outings in the past couple months have raised his profile.
I spoke with Johnson today and asked about the schools that have contacted him.
"Kansas State, Arizona State, Santa Clara, San Diego, UCSB, UC Irvine and Portland State are some of the ones I'm interested in that have contacted me," said Johnson.
Johnson said he has taken unofficial visits to UCSB, San Diego and Irvine.
Johnson talked a little about the issues he'll consider when making his choice.
"The location -- I'd kind of like a college town -- the conference, the education are all important," said Johnson. "I want a degree that will be respected. Playing time is kind of important. Not necessarily to start, but I'd like to contribute as a freshman."
Johnson said he doesn't really have a time frame for his decision.
"I'll just wait to see what offers come in and look at where I can see myself going," said Johnson. "It'll definitely be after the summer."
Johnson said he has a 3.3 GPA.
