Bledsoe Enters July With A Leader

Eric Bledsoe's stock took a turn for the better this spring with the Birmingham Ice. Now he enters the summers with three schools on his mind.

A year ago this time, Eric Bledsoe wasn't on many people's radar. The Birmingham (Ala.) Hayes point guard needed seasoning. A year later, he's a Top 100 prospect.

The 6-foot point man will relocate (by necessity this fall). "Our school is closing because it didn't pass (a test)," Bledsoe said. "They closed it so I have to go to Parker. I really loved Hayes."

This summer, Bledsoe has showed his stuff with the Birmingham Ice. He rounded out his game at Chris Paul's Camp and then held his own at the NBA Players Association Camp.

"I'm really pretty quick and I can get to the basket. I just try to get my teammates involved. Sometimes I try too much and it affects my turnovers."

With July just around the corner, Bledsoe enters the critical recruiting month with three schools on his mind. One has offered, two others could be close.

"I like UAB and South Carolina and Indiana. UAB has offered, South Carolina didn't and Indiana didn't. They came to the school."

The Blazers have Mike Davis as their coach and that fact appeals to Bledsoe. He thinks their personalities mirror each other.

"I like the fact that they run and their coach is laid back. He's not all up in my face like other coaches."
