Dowell Opens It Up

Reger Dowell is back on the market. The talented point guard recently decommitted from Alabama.

Following an unofficial visit in late March, Reger Dowell committed to Mark Gottfried and the University of Alabama. On Thursday, the 6-foot-1 point guard decided to reopen his recruitment.

"Me and my family we've been kind of thinking about it," Dowell said. "We just decided it would be the best decision for me. Things have changed and I just want to weight out all of my options and give other schools a chance to get involved."

Dowell said he hasn't started talking to other schools, but some of his coaches have. He said prior to his Alabama commitment he had heard from Marquette, Texas, Texas A&M, Mississippi and Nebraska.

"Things change," he continued. "I still like Alabama a lot, but I just want to give these others schools a chance."

The Duncanville (Tex.) High product has a busy summer ahead. He'll play at RBK U starting on July 6th and then he'll close out the summer by playing with Team Texas at the Nike Peach Jam, the Main Event and the Desert Duel Memorial
