Jordin Mayes, 6-1 JR PG Los Angeles (Calif.) Westchester, is a rangy young point with an above average skill package. While he's not especially explosive, Mayes can be deceptive with the ball and he makes outstanding decisions. With a solid frame and good length, Mayes has a chance to develop into a high major point guard.
I spoke with Mayes recently and asked about the schools he's heard from to date.
"UCLA, Washington State, Texas, UNLV, Stanford, Cal, Oregon, Arizona, San Diego, Santa Clara and bunch of other ones," said Mayes.
When asked if any schools stand out for him, Mayes said, "I like UCLA and Arizona right now."
Mayes talked a little about the factors he'll consider when picking a school.
"I want to go someplace with a running game and really just the best fit for me," said Mayes. "Location doesn't matter to me."
Mayes said he could see himself making a decision by the end of this summer or possibly during his junior year. He said he has a 3.0 GPA.
