Powell Opens It Up

Marshawn Powell made a commitment to Arkansas in June, but has since opted to open up his recruitment. The talented big man spoke to Scout.com about his recent decision.

Fresh off a solid performance at the LeBron James Skills Academy, Marshawn Powell, of Charlottesville (Va.) The Miller School, has decided to reopen his recruitment.

"There's still a chance I could go I just haven't seen it yet," Powell told Scout.com Friday afternoon. "I want to get a feel for the people that are there."

Powell, who is a 6-foot-8, 225-pound PF, committed to the Razorbacks in early June. Now the No. 63 ranked prospect is open, but still considering Arkansas.

"I'm interested in UVA," Powell said. "That's basically it. It's between Arkansas and Virginia, but UVA hasn't offered yet."

So if other schools came calling would he be interested? "Yes, I would listen."

Powell, who play for Boo Williams this weekend at the Nike Peach Jam, is ranked No. 21 at the power forward spot.
