Peach State Rundown

AIKEN, S.C. – Across the way from the Peach Jam was the Peach State Summer Showcase. Garrius Adams drew the biggest crowd but Eric Bledsoe was responsible for the most impressive performance.

Garrius Adams, SG, Garner Road – ACC country is about to yield another big conference signee. The 6-foot-5 Adams has parlayed a solid spring into a big summer with Miami and South Carolina the most recent to offer. On Saturday he had an average game, one subpar and then finished with 21 points. His evolution has been documented on this site the last few weeks. Now trusting of his jumper, Adams' recruitment is a hot topic on the trail.

Devin Booker, PF – The Clemson Tigers have bookend bigs between he and Milton Jennings. Booker was too much for the Raptors Select young team and beasted his way in the paint. One of hardest playing kids we've encountered, his ability to pass the ball in the post will come in handy.

Eric Bledsoe, PG, Birmingham Ice – The architect of his team's assault on WW Renegades, Bledsoe turned in the best game we've seen him play to date. It's interesting to note that against the best competition he seems to raise his game. Translation: his best basketball is ahead of him in college. That confident edge that you want PGs to have was there this weekend.

Brandon Peterson, SF, Birmingham Ice – Speaking of confidence, known for his athleticism, Peterson was stroking it here. He connected on four 3s in one half of ball.

Hassan Whiteside, C, United Celtics – Pretty darn impressive for having played only two seasons of organized ball. The 6-foot-10 Whiteside used to play street ball. He's headed for a post-grad year this fall. On the court he blocks shots, runs and dunks – a lot. There's a high-major future in his game and he could be at either Hargrave or Patterson with junior college also a possibility.

Roberts Has A Chance
Ian Miller, SG, United Celtics – Mark it down, he's tracking as a high-major combo guard. Against Garner Road Miller scored it multiple ways. With a jump shot that was dialed in from the outside, he drove it – left and right – and even punched one down. Tremendous high school season, solid spring and thumbs up so far this summer.

Jaleel Roberts, C, Team Power – When you get up early to see a team play and they roll out a kid that's 6-foot-10, you're pleased. Roberts is an upside guy. He's got the look of an extremely young kid and his wingspan is big time. If he can add strength lookout.

James Carlton, C/PF, Carolina Crusaders – His father played in college and the thinking is this 6-7 big has another growth spurt in his game. He's an energy kid on the glass that chases shots and rebounds extremely well. Bolstering his offensive game is the next step and will determine if he's mid or high-level in time.
