Brown Ends Speculation; Makes Commitment

With July coming to an end, Lorenzo Brown opted to end his recruitment. The 6-foot-4 senior-to-be made one ACC coach a happy camper.

Over the course of the last year it's become apparent that Lorenzo Brown, of Roswell (Ga.) Centennial, has favored N.C. State, and on Sunday he decided to give the Wolfpack a verbal commitment.

"They've been his front runner all along and he's been excited about them," Centennial coach Allen Whitehart said. "He told me this morning that he was going to go there and he wanted to really let everybody know."

Brown, who is ranked No. 29 overall in the 2009 class, had taken a number of visits to Raleigh (N.C.) to visit their campus. Through the visits and the entire process, Brown built a strong relationship with their entire staff.

"He said they basically felt like family," Whitehart explained. "He said he's really comfortable with Coach [Larry] Harris and Coach [Sidney] Lowe."

According to his high school coach, Brown, who averaged 25 points and nine rebounds during his junior season, is a great teammate and will bring a number of valuable attributes to the table at N.C. State.

"He's going to bring competition," Whitehart said. "He loves to compete and he's going to bring hard work. He comes to practice everyday with a hard hat on. He's always striving to become better player. He's like a sponge. Anything that can make him better, he'll do it."

Brown picked North Carolina State over interest from Florida, Texas and Memphis. He joins Scott Wood, of Marion (Ind.) High, to make up their current 2009 recruiting class.
