Howell Commits To ACC Program

Richard Howell is off the board. The 2009 prospect gave a verbal commitment to an ACC program on Monday afternoon.

Just a day after picking up a verbal commitment from Lorenzo Brown, North Carolina State struck again. This time they received word from Richard Howell, of Marietta (Ga.) Wheeler.

"My mom lives there and I just feel like it's the place for me and I have family there," Howell told "Everybody is behind me and I feel like I fit that program and I can go in there and make an impact."

"I like how the campus is set up, and I have a good relationship with coach [Sidney] Lowe and coach [Larry] Harris."

Brown, who is ranked No. 29 in the 2009 class, informed Howell of his decision and that got the 6-foot-7, 215-pound power forward thinking more about the recruiting process.

"It had a little bit of an affect," Howell said. "We talked about it for a long time and he told me right before he did it that he was about to commit. That's when I started thinking about it and I decided to sit down and make my decision."

Howell picked the Wolfpack over strong interest from Oregon and Marquette. He joins Brown and Scott Wood to make up N.C. State's 2009 recruiting class.
