Henderson Headed To Mountain West Conference

Marshall Henderson, a 2009 standout, gave a verbal commitment to a Mountain West Conference squad.

Every time Marshall Henderson looked around, Utah seemed to be close by. Ultimately it was the Utah's dedication and persistence that led to Henderson giving the Utes a verbal commitment on Monday.

"Utah was everywhere this summer," Henderson said. "They came to every single game that they could. They've come and visited the school many times. Way more than anyone else has, probably combined. They came down a lot.

"They called me every time they could," he continued. "I loved talking to them, so I would call them. It just felt like the right place for me."

Henderson, of Hurst (Tex.) Bell, picked Utah over strong interest from Gonzaga, Stanford, Marquette, Notre Dame and Bradley.

"It was because I have a good relationship with their coaches, not just their assistant coach but also coach [Jim] Boylen," Henderson said about his commitment. "I know Coach Boylen is a real good coach.

"The campus, when I took an unofficial visit was great. I just liked it a lot, more so than all the other ones."

Henderson joins Jeremy Olsen, of Suwanne (Ga.) Collins Hill, to make up the Utes' current 2009 recruiting class.
