Smith Decommits From Arizona; Picks New Team

Greg Smith changed his mind. The west coast big man reneged on his original commitment to Arizona and has since picked a new school.

Despite committing to Arizona in late June, Greg Smith still had another school on his mind. So the 6-foot-8, 230-pound big man decommitted from the Cats and gave Fresno State a verbal commitment.

"[Arizona] was a soft verbal," Smith told "Ever since I committed, I was just thinking. At first, I thought [Arizona] was the school for me, but I wanted to be at the school where I belonged. It doesn't matter where you play. If you can play, you can get to the next level from anywhere. That is why I went with my heart and Fresno State."

Smith, of Vallejo (Calif.) Bethel, originally picked Arizona over interest from Washington, UNLV, UCLA and USC. He's ranked No. 4 at the center position and No. 33 overall.
