Bell Pops To Big East Program

After contemplating making an early decision, James Bell opted to go ahead and give a verbal commitment to one of the best programs in the Big East.

For the past few months, James Bell was thought to be a Villanova lean, and on Thursday afternoon, the 6-foot-5, 215-pound SF made his decision to be a Wildcat official.

"I'm trying to get focused on the season and get better," Bell informed "I'm transferring to Montverde so it'll be a whole new look. I knew where I wanted to go."

Bell, who is rated as a four-star prospect by, also had scholarship offers from Clemson and Miami. Tennessee, West Virginia, Florida, Auburn, Kentucky and Mississippi were also showing interest.

"They have a 100-percent graduation rate, and I like Coach [Jay] Wright and the players I met," Bell said when asked specifically about Villanova. "He's originally from the north."

Bell is the first member of the 2010 class to commit to Villanova. They already hold a pair pledges in the class of 2009, Isaiah Armwood, of Rockville (Md.) Montrose Christian, and Maalik Wayns, of Philadelphia (Pa.) Roman Catholic.
