Powell Changes Tune; Recommits To SEC School

Marshawn Powell changed his mind again. The 6-foot-8, 225-pound PF recommitted to a SEC school Sunday afternoon.

Just prior to the Peach Jam in early July, Marshawn Powell decommitted from Arkansas. Now his deal is closed again, as he recommitted to the Razorbacks, while participating in their elite camp this past weekend.

"I had never seen the place and I didn't have a good relationship with the staff yet," Powell told Scout.com. "Now I do. I have a real relationship between me and all of the coaches and Coach [John] Pelphrey and Coach [Tommy] Ostrom.

"It's a big time school and they play in a big time conference," he continued. "Why wouldn't you want to play there?"

Ostrom was the point man on the Charlottesville (Va.) The Miller School standout, and the relationship that he built with Powell helped seal the deal.

"He recruited me the whole time," Powell, who is ranked No. 63 overall by Scout.com, said. "Since the first time I talked to him I got a good vibe from him."

Powell is the first prospect in the 2009 class to give Pelphrey and the Razorbacks a verbal commitment.
