Cooper Forming His List

D.J. Cooper, one of the top point guards in the Midwest, is cultivating his list. Cooper's getting hit up by mid and high-level programs.

D.J. Cooper stated his case this summer. Though his Meanstreets team wasn't as successful as it had been in the past, the diminutive Cooper captured the attention of college recruiters.

"We didn't get to finish it all out," Cooper said of his summer. "I gave it all I can give."

And for his efforts, scholarship offers are coming in for the Chicagoan. "Baylor is coming, Kent State, Ohio, Loyola, Cal-Berkeley and Wright State," Cooper relayed. "Those are the main ones and they've all offered except Cal."

Prior to the summer, Cooper did some work with his list and even saw a number of schools up close. "I visited Baylor and Loyola and I really liked what I saw at Baylor. It's a great conference." Cooper indicated Baylor wants to pair him with John Wall. Should the nation's top point guard pick the Bears, it would have little affect on Cooper.

"The mid-majors, I feel sometimes bigger might not always be better. You can come in right away and play at places likes Kent State and Ohio. It might be a little harder at a place like (Baylor or Cal). I'd have to bring it everyday."

There's no question that Cooper is going take a few official trips. "I know I'm going to visit Baylor, Kent State and Ohio. I might visit New Orleans; they offered too. I'm probably not going to take all five of my visits. I'm going to take two or three because I pretty much know the schools that are in the race."
