Hill Completes ACC Effort

Donte Hill took himself off the board Saturday night. The wing out of the Tidewater region will play his collegiate basketball in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The Clemson Tigers handed out their last scholarship on Saturday. Donte Hill, a 6-foot-3 wing out of Norfolk (Va.) Collegiate, is headed to the ACC.

"Coach Purnell believes in him and we stayed in constant contact," Troy Hill, Donte's father told Scout.com. "It was ODU, Clemson and Marquette. When Coach Crean left we kind of lost contact. It was a hard decision between ODU and Clemson and we went with the ACC.

"We're definitely going to celebrate today."

Hill averaged 22 points a game last year at Collegiate. The Tigers showed consistent interest in him and rolled with all the ups and downs of the process.

"Clemson came to a lot of games. When we played T.C. Williams, the eventual state champions, Donte had 29 and 22 against them. He was wondering what he did wrong but Clemson came to a lot of games. He's got great grades and he's done everything right."

Hill rolled down to Clemson's elite camp and performed extremely well. In the end, Oliver Purnell liked his defense. "Oliver really gave me a true assessment of how he saw Donte and I thought it was correct."

Purnell put the finishing touches on back-to-back strong effort. Top 25 prospect Milton Jennings and beast forward Devin Booker committed prior to Hill. All three will be in attendance for Clemson's first home football game.
