2009 Introduction: Nuno Muandumba

Nuno Muandumba was virtually unknown prior to June, but he showed in July that he compares very favorably with some of the better points in the West Coast class of 2009....

Nuno Muandumba, 5-10 SR PG Phoenix (Ariz.) Pinnacle, is one of the best point guards in the West Coast class of 2009. I'm not usually a fan of small point guards, but Muandumba has enough positive attributes to overlook his size. He's got good quickness and strength, a very good feel and an above-average outside shot. He plays on balance and under control – qualities that are missing all too often among his peers.

I spoke with Muandumba recently and asked about the schools that have been in contact with him.

"Santa Clara, Lamar, San Diego, Cal Poly, UC Irvine, Fresno State and Weber State," said Muandumba. "Lamar has offered."

I asked Muandumba what he's looking for in a school.

"Someplace where I can see myself living and where I feel I fit in the program," said Muandumba. "Location is not a big deal."

Muandumba said he doesn't have a leader yet, but he has talked with two schools about taking a visit.

"I've talked with Lamar and Santa Clara about visiting, but we haven't set a date yet," said Muandumba.

Muandumba said he'd like to make his decision prior to his high school season. He said he has a 3.0 GPA and scored 1540 on the SAT.
