Illinois State Strikes Twice

Tim Jankovich's Illinois State Redbirds mined out a pair of regional prospects that are poised to have a strong impact on the program.

There are good weeks and then there are outstanding weeks. For Illinois State, this is a big time recruiting haul on the mid-major level.

Independence (Mo.) Chrisman teammates Jon Ekey and Justin Clark are now officially on board for the Class of 2009. Ekey stepped up to the plate first and Clark followed Wednesday morning.

Not only high school teammates but AAU brethren for the powerful K.C. Pump ‘n Run squad, many assume they were a package deal to Illinois State but Clark indicated otherwise.

"I think a lot of people assume that but actually, when he committed the other day I still had to think about it. We are individuals. I was happy for him and I see a lot of good things in the future."

Clark said the fit at Illinois State were outstanding for his game. A 6-foot-4 wing with a stroke, it should be a smooth transition.

"They know that in my high school system we shoot a lot of 3s. The style is similar to Kansas and they'll get up a lot of shots. They feel like we'll fit in pretty good."
