Dewitt Is Done For Big 12

Keith Dewitt could be one of the feel good stories of the season. The 20-year old big man has life in order and recently decided to play his basketball in the Big 12.

The Missouri Tigers have a bit of a footprint in the state of North Carolina.

Assistant coach Melvin Watkins is the former head coach at Charlotte and has been a bridge from Columbia to the state. On Monday, Goldsboro (N.C.) Charis Prep post grad Keith Dewitt pledged to the Tigers after entertaining the likes of North Carolina State, Miami, West Virginia and a host of others.

"He told me that he felt good about the decision and he was basing it on his relationship with Coach Anderson and Coach Watkins," Charis Prep's Carlos Peralta told Scout.com. "Plus, I've got two former players there now and he felt good about the situation and was ready to go ahead and make a decision."

Dewitt, a native of High Point, N.C., revived his basketball career last season under Peralta's guidance. The 6-foot-9, athletic power forward married this past summer and entertained a bevy of high-major suitors. Many programs camped out at the school in July for his workouts.

"I guess they'll find that he's a very versatile player that has some size and will create matchup problems on the defensive end for the opposition. He's very, very hungry to prove himself."
