Junior PG Derrick Low
Derrick Low, 6-0 JR PG Honolulu (Hawaii) Iolani, told us recently that he's considering North Carolina St., Kansas, Iowa St., Kentucky, Hawaii and Gonzaga. Low said that Gonzaga was at his practice on Sunday and he communicates by email with the Bulldog staff. He also said that he calls the staffs at North Carolina St., Kansas and Iowa St. Low told us that Hawaii was his dream school when he was younger. "It was kind of my dream to play in front of my friends and family but, to get better, I may need to go away and play against the best competition," said Low. "I always went to Hawaii games, but now that I've grown up, I feel like can play with anyone." Low wants to take several visits before making a decision. "I want to take five visits and be sure I can live where I'll be going to school," said Low. "I want to see what the atmosphere and weather is like." He plans on taking some visits in the spring and said he could see himself committing sometime in the summer. Low will get a look at the East Coat when his high school team makes a nine day tour of Boston and New York in December. He said he also plans on attending the Nike camp in July, as well as playing at the Big Time in Las Vegas. Iolani is one of the best academic schools in Hawaii, according to Low. He told us that his GPA is around 2.5 and he'll take the SAT in December.
