Five Schools In The Mix For Burks

Alec Burks, a three-star prospect on, has a list of five schools and he's getting ready to take a pair of official visits.

The summer was an important time for Grandview (Mo.) High standout Alec Burks, and the 6-foot-4 sharp shooter certainly stepped up is play and picked up some new interest.

"It was a real good summer for me," Burks said. "I got a lot of exposure and I liked it a lot. It provided a lot more attention for me."

The schools involved with Burks are Kansas State Colorado, Missouri State, Santa Clara and Wichita State. He claims scholarship offers from all five of the schools on his list.

"Those are the ones that are recruiting me the hardest," Burks said. "I'm just taking it one step at a time and I'm looking at all of the schools right now."

Going forward, Burks has an official visit set up for Kansas State this coming weekend. He'll then take a weekend off, before heading to Colorado for his second official visit. At this point those are the only visits planned.

So are there any favorites?

"I like K-State and Colorado the most probably," the senior-to-be stated.

Burks cited his relationship with the Wildcats coaching staff as one of the many reasons he likes Kansas State. With Colorado, Burks has been impressed with head coach Jeff Bzdelik.

"They just call a lot and I like the coach [Brad] Underwood and coach [Frank] Martin," Burks said. "It's a great campus and just a great place to be."

"With Colorado the head coach is a real nice dude," Burks said Colorado. "It's a Big 12 school and it's a great atmosphere to be in."

Burks plans to sign in the early signing period.
