Dower Locks Down His Choice

The NCAA says you can take up to five official visits. Sam Dower, a senior center out of Minnesota, needed just a pair. Dower decided on Saturday while visiting a Western power.

Mark Few's Gonzaga Bulldogs intend on restocking their big man cupboard with the Class of 2009. Saturday night, the program took its first step toward accomplishing the goal.

Sam Dower, a center of out of Osseo (Minn.) High, picked the Zags after looking at Marquette, George Mason, Minnesota and California.

Dower, Scout.com's No. 25 center in 2010, committed while visiting the school this weekend. "I just liked it," Dower said. The Net Gain Sports center visited Marquette last weekend and was to be on Mason's campus later this month.

Dower found Gonzaga well equipped to get him on the floor early. "I like playing with the players and they play my style. It's fast-paced and the big men shoot."

Marquise Watts, Dower's AAU coach, figured there's a strong need for another big in Spokane. "Playing time with the strong possibility of Austin Daye leaving for the NBA … they were in the hardest since April," Watts texted.
