No Surprise As Broghammer Headed To Big East

Mike Broghammer's visit to Notre Dame was a productive one. As he was leaving campus. the Minnesotan delivered good news to Mike Brey's team.

Mike Broghammer is now a member of the Notre Dame FIghtin' Irish program. The 6-foot-9 Minnetonka (Minn.) Hopkins senior picked the Irish during his official campus visit. He considered Penn State and Illinois State but in reality, once the Irish got involved during the July period, he couldn't see himself anywhere else.

Some criticize the July evaluation period but for Broghammer, the period was the vehicle by which Notre Dame identified him for their program. "It was huge," Broghammer told Scout.com. "It was a giant month for me to say the least. They saw me play at the Peach Jam and offered me the next week. That's when they really locked in and showed a lot of interest."

The future engineering major enjoyed his time with Notre Dame's players and that proved helpful in the decision making process. Another aspect was the chance to play early.
