Walker Makes The Call

Laced with potential, Torin Walker is a high-major prospect. Over the weekend, he made a visit and commitment as one Big 12 program got it done.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys had themselves a productive weekend. Torin Walker, a 6-foot-10 center out of Columbus (Ga.) Northside, committed to the program after visiting Stillwater. He examined his options at Kentucky, Minnesota, Georgia and Auburn.

The 17-year old Walker has all kinds of athletic attributes and has room to make another leap in his game once he becomes stronger and more aggressive.

"He's a big body inside for them at 6-foot-10 and 235 pounds," Northside coach Kenny Lawrence told Scout.com. "He has a tremendous upside and I think he'll give them a post presence. He does a good job of rebounding and post defense. He's that big body inside. He could turn into a pretty good offensive player."

Last season, Walker averaged 17.3 points and 12.8 rebounds. He played this past summer with the Georgia Blazers.

During his official visit, according to Lawrence, the Cowboys confirmed Walker's feelings for the program and moved swiftly to lock down Scout.com's No. 28 center.

"I felt like they did an outstanding job of recruiting him. They followed him around the whole summer and they let him know he was their guy. He got that feeling and made an official visit and that reaffirmed his feelings about them."
