Nelson Plans To Play In Pac 10

Another member of the 2009 class is off the board. This time it's Roberto Nelson, of Santa Barbara (Calif.) High.

Roberto Nelson took a handful of visits and had a number of scholarship offers on the table, but ultimately it was Craig Robinson and his crew that managed to get seal up a commitment.

"He felt that he could make more of an immediate impact, and it was more of family atmosphere," Nelson's AAU coach Etop Udo-Ema said. "He just felt it and he felt Coach Robinson and his staff."

Nelson, a member of the 2009 class, is the second member of the Compton Magic to commit to Oregon State. He joins Hemet (Calif.) West Valley product Joe Burton.

"At Oregon State he can play immediately," Ude-Ema said.

Nelson had interest from UCLA, USC, Utah and a number of other schools showed interest. Nelson is a four-star recruit and ranked as the nations 16th best shooting guard.
