Batts Is Big East Bound

When Kadeem Batts closed out July on a high note, one had to figure the high-major interest was heading his way. On Saturday night, the Georgian opted to commit to a Big East program.

There were more commitments Saturday night than points scored by Ohio State.

While the USC Trojans were proving to the nation they were the best team in college football, hoops prospects were committing at a rapid pace.

The call came at 10:39 p.m. The Providence Friars had secured a commitment from 6-foot-7 Powder Springs (Ga.) McEachern power forward Kadeem Batts.

"Providence was such a great fit for me," Batts told Scout.com. "I just fell in love with it when I came to visit."

The 10-point per game scorer also looked strongly at Marquette, College of Charleston and VCU. He drew serious attention when he closed the July evaluation period on a high note.

"They told me they see me as a guy who can come in and be an impact player. The situation will allow me to expand my game to the perimeter more. I can definitely see myself being a four man that can step out."
