Eblen Picks CAA Program

Ben Eblen has had a favorite throughout his recruitment and Sunday afternoon he went ahead and picked the school. He'll play in the CAA.

Ben Eblen won't take his official visit to VCU until this coming weekend, but when he steps off the plane in Richmond (Va.) for his second trip to their campus, he'll be a commitment prospect.

"I kind of had already made my mind up a couple of weeks ago," Eblen said. "I talked to my mom, but I wanted to give a few other coaches a chance and see what they had to say. But I spoke to mom again last night and talked to my coach and I just thought it was time to commit."

The 6-foot, 185-pound lead man cited his relationship with Anthony Grant as one of the many factors he opted for VCU. The Rams staff built a strong bond with him and impressed him on his first trip to VCU.

"I like Coach [Anthony] Grant and I like Coach [Tony] Pujol, he recruited me hard," Eblen said. "Coach Grant was the main factor in all of this and their style of play really fits me and I got to see some of their game film I just think I'm going to fit in well there."

"My relationship with Coach Grant is what I liked the most," he continued. "Coach Pujol and Coach Grant were the ones recruiting me. Coach Grant was always down here and I was always on the phone with Coach Grant. He's the head coach and he's going to make the decisions, so it was good to have a great relationship with him."

Eblen, who picked VCU over strong interest from Stanford and College of Charleston, is the first member of the 2009 class to make a verbal commitment to the Rams.
