Smith To Remain In-State

Shaunessy Smith made his collegiate decision Tuesday night and he's not venturing too far from home.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs reached over to Macon (Miss.) Noxubee County and scored a 6-foot-5 shooting guard.

Shaunessy Smith picked the Bulldogs after considering the hometown SEC school. He also visited Southern California this month.

Smith went missing in action from the summer circuit as he rehabbed a torn ligament in his hip. "It's going good, I'm pretty much to 100%. I'm starting to do normal stuff."

As a junior – prior to the injury – Smith averaged a robust 25 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists.

The Bulldogs picked up the pace on Smith following the July period. "They recruited me even harder and longer and I talked to my family. I felt that staying close to them was a big deal."
