Braswell Pops For A-10 Program

Chris Braswell, a 2008 Top 100 player and one-time Georgetown commitment, has again made up his mind. The Hargrave insider ended his recruitment Monday afternoon.

The Charlotte 49ers showed their commitment to Chris Braswell in a big way. Bobby Lutz and his entire staff were front and center the first day of the September live period. As it turns out, the face-to-face connection mattered.

Braswell selected the Niners after considering Indiana, Xavier, Virginia Tech and Maryland.

"Certainly with them being there on Sept. 9 with their whole staff sends a message to a kid," Hargrave coach Kevin Keatts said. "I think that played a big part in it. He's a relationship type of guy and between the summer and over these last weeks in the live period they built a great rapport with the kid."

Last year, as a senior, Braswell was part of the Top 100. He averaged 16 points a night for Keatts and played well with Triple Threat last summer.

"He's probably playing the best basketball of his life in the last two weeks. For the first time, in my opinion, he's probably in the best shape of his life. Now you're seeing a kid in better shape, more determined and he's been valuable for us."

Charlotte has long sported the D.C. connection and Braswell is a significant piece of the continuing pipeline.
