Miami Scores Guard From Argentina

Miami needed a point guard in the 2009 class and they recently scored a commitment from an unknown prospect from Argentina.

The Miami Hurricanes went off the beaten path for their third verbal commitment of the 2009 class.

Lisandro Ruiz-Moreno, of South Kent (Conn.) South Kent School, recently made his way to the United States from Argentina, and he's given a verbal commitment to Frank Haith and his staff.

"He wants to go there," South Kent head coach Kelvin Jefferson said. "It's done."

According to Jefferson, Miami saw the 5-foot-11 point guard play overseas and have been recruiting him every since.

"They worked hard and they found him down in Argentina," Jefferson said. "He had never been to the states before. He was playing down there and they recruited him. He just feels comfortable with them."

Ruiz-Moreno joins a pair of four-star prospects in Miami's 2009 class. Beverly Hills (Mich.) Detroit Country Day standout Donnavan Kirk was their first commitment and Apex (N.C.) Middle Creek product Garrius Adams jumped on board in September.
