Turkish Big Makes Pick

Deniz Kilicli, a 6-foot-9 big man out of Mountain State Academy is headed to the Big East.

The West Virginia Mountaineers, according to Mountain State Academy coach Rob Fulford, scored a commitment from a big man this week.

Deniz Kilicli is a Mountaineer.

"He was a huge priority for them once he showed up here," Fulford told Scout.com. "Word got out fast how good he actually was. Coach Huggins came down within the first couple of days and he and Deniz hit it off immediately."

The 6-foot-9 big man emerged as a hot target this fall as interest came from both coasts of the U.S.

"He's a prototypical Bob Huggins player. He's overpowering and very physical. He's a Big East kid."

UCLA, Kentucky, N.C. State, UConn and Texas were the primary suitors for Kilicli.
