Dowell Goes Down Again; Headed To Big 12

Reger Dowell has made another decision. He made a commitment to a Big 12 program on Saturday while on a visit.

Reger Dowell's recruitment appears to be over, again. The 6-foot-1 point guard committed to Oklahoma State, while on campus for an official visit.

"Distance played a big part in my decision to commit to Oklahoma State," Dowell said. "They are only three and a half hours away from my house and they are in the Big 12. I think I have a chance to contribute right away my freshman year."

Originally, Dowell was committed to Alabama, but he decommitted prior to July of this past year. Then he scored an offer from Arizona and committed, but the two parted ways a few weeks ago.

The Duncanville (Tex.) High standout has had teammate Roger Franklin, who is a Oklahoma State commit, on him the past few weeks and the 6-foot-5 forward played a big role in Dowell's decision.

"Of course my boy Roger Franklin has been pushing me the whole time," Dowell said. "I'm down here on a visit right now and I'm really enjoying the atmosphere and the people here. It's a real homey environment."

"A soon as he heard about the Arizona thing he called me and we have talked about playing together since we were in the third grade," he continued. "He's been on me full time since I decommitted."

Dowell is the fifth pledge of the 2009 class. He joins Franklin, Torin Walker, Ray Penn and Fred Gulley.
