Fair Makes Early Commitment

C.J. Fair is off the board. The talented underclassmen prospect committed to a Big East school over the weekend.

C.J. Fair wasn't expecting to make a commitment when he took an unofficial visit to Syracuse, but the 6-foot-7 forward just couldn't resist, as he recently gave Jim Boeheim's staff a verbal commitment.

"I loved it down there, especially when I walked in the Carrier Dome," Fair said. "My eyes just lit up."

According to Fair's father, Carl, Syracuse' ability to develop big men played a major role in the decision to give the Orangemen a verbal commitment.

"It came down to them being able to develop forwards early on," the elder Fair said. "From Carmelo [Anthony] to Hakim Warrick and Donte Green, they have had a bunch of great forwards and they have a great class coming."

"They kind of blew us away," he continued. "It's just a great opportunity. A lot of schools showed us love, but they showed us phenomenal love."

To go with Fair, at standout at Baltimore (Md.) City College, Syracuse also has a pledge from South Kent (Conn.) School standout Dion Waiters.

Fair, who is ranked No. 48 in the 2010 class overall, had already earned a handful of scholarship offers. Among the schools involved were Virginia, Virginia Tech, Louisville, Georgetown and Maryland.
