Top 100 Fitzgerald Seals The Deal

Andrew Fitzgerald, a Top 100 talent, is headed to the Big 12. A weekend visit to America's heartland produced a key commitment for one Big 12 program.

The Oklahoma Sooners continue to put pieces around star guard Tommy Mason-Griffin. Jeff Capel's team, on Sunday, received a commitment from 6-foot-8 center Andrew Fitzgerald.

Scout.com's No. 85 prospect in the Class of 2009, visited Oklahoma last weekend. Minnesota, Virginia, James Madison and Kentucky were keeping close ties.

"I was watching their practice and saw how intense and hard it was," Fitzgerald said. "I saw that they feed their big man all the time and their program is on the rise right now."

Fitzgerald, a Baltimore native, transferred to Wolfeboro (N.H.) Brewster Academy for his final season. Aside from being a reliable scorer, Fitzgerald is now a serious all-around player. In an effort to demonstrate his commitment to the game he lost 40 pounds in the last calendar year.

"He gets of stuff done," Brewster Academy coach Jason Smith said. "He's got tremendous footwork and feel. He's more skilled than people realize. He finishing everything around the rim and his footwork separates him from most kids."

Oklahoma now owns a pledge from McDonald's candidate Mason-Griffin plus shooter Steven Pledger and insider Kyle Hardrick.
