Utah Center Prospect

The 6-10 junior center prospect from Utah, Chris MIles, is on the early radar screen of some high-major programs, and he's had two scholarship offers to date...

Chris Miles, 6-10 JR C, Provo (Utah) Timpview, currently the #5-ranked center in the west coast junior class, has already garnered a couple of scholarship offers.

"BYU and Utah have offered," Miles said.

Miles, who is averaging 12 points and 8 rebounds early in his junior season, said he's also hearing from and is interested in Gonzaga, Washington, Oregon, Connecticut "and I'm hearing a little from Stanford."

When asked if he had an early favorite, Miles said, ‘I like Gonzaga."

A coach from Gonzaga has been out to watch Miles practice, as well as a coach from New Mexico and Southern Utah.

Miles, who has good athleticism and skills for a big man at this stage in his development, said he wouldn't mind getting his recruting over with early, and would want to take some early trips. If he had to choose which schools he'd definitely visit right now, he said, "Gonzaga, Oregon and maybe Stanford."

What is important to Miles in picking a school, he says, is a good basketball program and a academics. "I want to go to a school that, if I don't make it in basketball, I could get a good degree and get a good job out of it."

He is prety open to leaving home to go to school, and he said his parents wouldn't have a real preference for him to stay close to home.  With BYU and Utah the hometown schools, Miles also said he didn't grow up a fan of any program.

He said he has a overall GPA and a 3.4 core. He has yet to take the SAT.
